Zion's thoughts on Mother's Day

Zion was in an especially talkative mood on Mother's day and had these thoughts to share with everyone...

Having a little fun with Zion

Just thought we'd share another happy moment with Zion.

What a great time we're having together!

Belly Flops

Sometimes you have things that you've been wanting to do for some time but never seem to do it because it's not a big enough priority. Then something changes and you "get 'er done" because priorities suddenly are different.

Our rug was like this. When we first got our old rug, we just wanted something to cover the floor. It did a fine job of that, but it didn't really look nice, or feel nice. A few years and couple of dogs later, that old rug really started to look bad, but not bad enough to motivate me to spend money on replacing it.

Then Zion arrives... "No way am I going to allow my precious son to spend most of his day on this old thing!" So off to the store we go and Tina picks out a nice looking rug for our family room.

The new rug arrived while I was at work, so Simeon and I put it down as soon as I got home, which happened to be while Zion was finishing his afternoon nap. After he woke up from his nap, we brought him down stairs and put him on the rug to see if he liked the new rug. What did he think? Did he like it?
Watch this and see what you think...

Zion loves to pray!

The past couple of days, Zion has really become quite enthusiastic about praying before his meals. It's too cute for words, so we decided to video.

Now how's that for a prayer! I can't imagine one that is more "heartfelt"!

Zion Overcomes Legos Underfoot.... Whooo hooo!

Zion loves to fling all the legos onto the floor. He's also enjoying his new found freedom... walking! Pretty soon he'll learn that it's easier to walk AFTER he cleans up his toys... (At this point, we clean up at before naps and bed-time, but the rest of the time is play time).

Sorry for the extra noise, but our house usually has lots of activity. The voice you hear off camera is Simeon, our oldest, who is doing the dishes in the background and asking Tina for some instructions at the beginning of the video (thank you Jesus for such a wonderful young man... and Mom. I'm not sure I did dishes as a teenager unless I was camping.) Pepsi, our pugapoo, is also wandering around in the background.

Zion is oblivious to it all. He's very focused on walking to Daddy, and very pleased with himself when he makes it! He gives us one of his "Lion roars" and a nice "Whooo hooo"! Zion responds with great tenacity when he's encouraged to do his best. We love to celebrate his little "man victories".

Zion's First Steps

After dinner, Zion took his first steps! We were all so excited. He was so thrilled with his new found mobility, he kept going for a few more steps. Eventually someone remembered to hand me a video camera. There's no stopping him now!

It's an amazing blessing to share Zion's first steps as a family. We are so blessed to be with this "little man" as starts his own journey. "A man's steps are ordained by the Lord." Thank you Lord for ordaining these precious steps in our kitchen. May every step Zion takes lead him closer to you and the fulfillment of your purposes in his life.

Together At Last!

Our family was blessed to meet Isaiah Zion Christopher and bring him into our family on March 5, 2011. We are calling him Zion, his original name, to keep some continuity for him.
This is a picture of Zion and Tina's first hug when we went to bring him home from the "care family's" house. Amazingly, Zion seemed to identify her as "Mommy" from that moment on. He's been wonderfully at peace in our family, especially in Tina's embrace.

He is a delightful one year old boy with plenty of smiles and wonderfully "squishy" hugs that just melt in your arms and melt your heart in the process.

He's also got lots of energy. He's in constant motion, surfing along the edges of the furniture, or crawling across the living room in search of new adventures.

The children are all having a great time playing together and learning what it's like to have another little brother around. They love to make their little brother laugh; plenty of tickles, zerberts, and "aaahhhh-boooo's" to go around.
The children have truly fallen in love with their new little brother, and he with them. Both Noel and Simeon have already have assisted with a few diaper changes (yes... stinky ones!). Are we blessed with a great family or what?

Zion has met most of our extended family and friends now. He's been the star of the show. Those who have prayed and supported our family through this adoption process are sharing our joy in seeing God's new miracle. Zion has been welcomed by all who meet him. Friends at home are already planning a "Welcome Home Zion" party to celebrate his adoption into our family. Zion is constantly turning heads in the grocery store, Walmart and resturaunts with his cute smiles, bright eyes, and chubby cheeks. We enjoy being out with him. Just the other night, Simeon asked if we could go "hang out at the mall" as a family. He's a proud big brother. And not only him; we are all enjoying establishing a new public identity as "Zion's family".

Zion has truly brought so many blessings into our family, most of which can't be photographed or described in words. He is truly a joy. From his beaming smile when we first pick him up out of his crib in the morning, to his "squishy hugs" at the end of the day as we sing over him before laying him down for the night, it's obvious that Zion is peaceful in his new home. He is happy to be part of our family, and we don't know how to say thank you to God for the blessing he is to us. Nonetheless, here are a few pictures that made the "highlight reel" from our first month with Zion (trips to the park, bath time, horse riding lessons, and grandparents):
